This is my take on an ongoing Chinese novel by an unknown author. I've never been much of a reader when it comes to lengthy novels, but as soon as I delved into this tale, I was hooked like a fanatic. And I can't seem to stop. Unfortunately, the English version I was following only released three chapters a day, and my appetite for the story was insatiable. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started translating the Chinese text myself. Along the way, I've tried to inject some context into it because Google's translation tends to be too literal.

I've used different names for characters in my translations since they're a result of my own artistic interpretation. I began my translations from Chapter 967, which was posted in a different discussion thread. My aim is to tackle at least 100 chapters a week. However, as much as I love translating and reading this novel, I make sure to reserve my weekends for my family and friends – they're the ones who matter most to me.

The reason for this new thread is that during my two days off, some talented translators have continued where I left off. Their work is already shared and posted in my previous thread. This is fantastic news for readers looking for weekend reads. To avoid any confusion, I decided to create a new thread where I can upload and continue my translations. I'm doing all of this out of love for the story and the enjoyment I get from the process; it makes me feel like I'm a part of the narrative.

For those who are new to this, the best translations are provided by Muhindi Wa Kuchoma, and they are the work of the legendary translator Marina Vitori.

This is the tale of a prince, a legendary Kirin known as Logan Rhys. His life underwent a dramatic change a decade ago when his mother met a mysterious and untimely demise. Fueled by a relentless pursuit of truth, justice, and vengeance, he abandoned his royal palace and adopted the guise of a commoner, going by the name Dustin Rhys. The once-arrogant young prince transformed into a timid and soft-spoken individual, making him an easy target for bullies.

During these ten years, Logan secretly honed his skills and strength, undergoing a profound transformation. However, a recent divorce from his wife, Dahlia Nicholson, after three years of marriage, coupled with a series of life-altering events, pushed him back into action. Slowly but surely, he began to shed his timid persona, reemerging as the formidable figure he once was.

Join us as we follow the journey of Dustin, or Logan, as he strives to surpass, outmaneuver, and overpower entire armies and kingdoms, all through his own determination and bare hands.

SHORT STORY:

“Let me tell you a story about life’s unexpected lessons... and how sometimes, the universe has a strange sense of humor.”

---

I told my wife I was heading to work that morning. My briefcase in hand, tie perfectly knotted—everything looked professional on the outside. But instead of going to the office, I found myself at her best friend's house.

Now, her best friend’s husband? A soldier. And if you’ve ever met a soldier, you’ll know they’re trained for discipline, strategy... and sometimes, unexpected timing.

I had barely settled into the visit when—bam!—the sound of boots marching through the door. Her husband was home.

In a panic, I did what any logical person would do in that moment: I dove under the bed. Heart pounding, breaths shallow. I prayed he wouldn’t look under there.

---

As I hid, he sent his wife off to the market. Phew. Relief washed over me. I thought, “Alright, he’ll leave, and I’ll sneak out.”

But then—plot twist.

The soldier picks up his phone and calls someone. And from under the bed, I hear the unmistakable tone of a man making plans. Plans. He invites another woman over.

Minutes later, she arrives. As I’m lying there, still as a statue, I hear soft laughter and flirtatious whispers. But just as things begin to escalate—knock, knock.

It’s his wife, back from the market earlier than expected. She claims her clothes are stained and insists she needs to change.

Now, the soldier freezes. He knows he can’t open the door with this other woman standing in the middle of the room. His solution? He tells her to hide under the bed.

---

And this is where the universe delivers its punchline.

Under that bed, where I had been holding my breath for dear life, I suddenly find myself face-to-face with the last person I ever expected to see.

My wife.

Our eyes lock. Wide. Shocked. Frozen like two rabbits caught in headlights. The world above us seemed to melt away.

Neither of us said a word. We didn’t need to. The silence spoke volumes.

---

Here’s what I love about this story.

In social gatherings, we call it GET TOGETHER
In mathematics, we call it a simultaneous equation
In Psychology, we call it "what goes around comes around"
In chemistry, we called it chain reaction
In economics, we call it demand and supply
In Physics, we call it nuclear fusion! In agriculture, we call it crop rotation
In English, we call it a coincidence
In government, we call it check and balance
In food and nutrition, we call it a balanced diet

THE FINAL BATTLE BETWEEN DUSTIN AND BILLY - By Gily

This was no ordinary duel

The ground beneath their feet was etched with arcane symbols, forming a protective ward to shield the spectators from the overwhelming power that was about to be unleashed

On the left side Billy, a formidable warrior, wielded the Underworld Sword, a blade forged in the depths of the abyss, where the light of the living world could never reach.

The sword’s blackened steel seemed to pulse with a life of its own, its hilt wrapped in dark, leathery tendrils that seemed to coil around his hand as if the weapon had its own will. It was a sword of legend, forged by forgotten gods to cleave through not only flesh but the very essence of a soul.

Billy was no ordinary warrior, his reputation had spread far and wide. The Underworld Sword was said to grant him the strength of hundred died warriors, the speed of a darkness, and a fearsome mastery. His presence alone sent chills through even the bravest of men.

Billy's gaze never left his opponent. His grip tightened on the Underworld Sword as a low, guttural growl rumbled in his chest. His eyes, cold and unwavering, locked eyes with Dustin’s, and in that instant, the entire arena seemed to hold its breath.

On the other side, Dustin held the Dragon Sparrow Sword, a weapon forged in the fires of ancient dragon forges, its blade shimmering like molten steel.

But it wasn’t just the sword that made Dustin a threat, his body was marked by the sacred Kirin Tattoos, mystical symbols of power that ran across his skin like veins of lightning. These tattoos were not mere decorations, they were alive, a manifestation of the Kirin spirit within him.

The audience knew that this duel would not just be a clash of weapons and magic, but a battle for the very soul of the land itself.

Billy looked at Dustin, his eyes dark with challenge, and his lips curling into a grim smile. The tension in the air was thick, charged with the weight of what was about to unfold.

"You know the rules, Brat," Billy growled, his hand gripping the hilt of the cursed sword that gleamed in the dim light. "Once this blade is drawn, it demands blood. There’s no turning back now, accept defeat and I shall spare you"

Dustin holding Dragon Sparrow but his posture remained defiant. "You talk too much, Boy,"

"Let’s end this. One strike. You and me” Billy Locked eyes with Dustin Unwavering

“Very well,” Dustin replied, his voice steady as he raised the Dragon Sparrow Sword to his side, its radiant glow cooling but still pulsating with power. “One strike to end this.”

Dustin’s voice erupted like a storm, thundering through the chaos of the battlefield. "Kirin Warrior!"

The Dragon Sparrow Sword in his hands pulsed with life, as though it, too, had answered the call. The Kirin tattoos, alive with the Kirin’s essence, imbued the sword with their power.

Billy, still standing with that smug arrogance, raised his Underworld Sword, shouted “Endless wrath of the damned”. In response to his command, the dark blade shimmered and split apart, fragmenting into nine individual swords, each pulsating with a malevolent energy that felt like the chill of the grave.

Billy struck first

The spectral swords hovered ominously around him, each glowing with an eerie light, dripping with what seemed to be the essence of despair. The air crackled with ancient, foreboding energy, and the shadows grew deeper, intertwining with the weapons that now danced at Billy's command.

“Draw Blood” Billy Commanded

With a flick of his wrist, the spectral swords shot forward like a swarm of angry wasps, each aiming to strike him down with razor-sharp precision. They weren’t just blades, they were extensions of Billy’s will, designed to maim, tear, and consume.

Dustin didn’t flinch. The Kirin tattoos on Dustin’s body began to shift and writhe, responding to his emotions and will, and their energy wrapped around Dustin like a protective aura. It was as if the very spirit of the Kirin, imbuing him with a strength and speed that no mortal could match.

As the swords shot toward him, he moved with the grace of the wind, his movements flowing like water. His instincts and his bond with the Dragon Sparrow Sword guided his every motion, his every counterstrike.

The Dance of Combat:
With a blur of motion, Dustin parried the first spectral sword, the ethereal blade shattering into a cascade of dark smoke as his Dragon Sparrow Sword met it with divine precision. But the remaining swords weren’t finished, they swarmed around him like a deadly swarm of bees, striking from all angles, impossible to track, impossible to avoid.

The first sword came at him from the left, but Dustin spun, his body fluid and controlled, his sword dancing with a skill born from years of mastery. He cut through the spectral blade with ease, sending it spiraling into nothingness.

Before he could even catch his breath, a second sword lunged from above, its edge sharp enough to cleave his head in two. But Dustin was already in motion, rolling backward, his muscles moving like liquid, avoiding the blow by mere inches. His Kirin tattoos rippled with energy, guiding his movements, heightening his senses.

Each strike was met with a swift counter, each attack deflected or avoided with precision. The battlefield became a blur, a dance between light and shadow, life and death, as Dustin’s Dragon Sparrow Sword flashed through the air, cutting through the darkness. But no matter how many of Billy’s swords he destroyed, more kept coming, swirling around him like a storm.

The Kirin’s Awakening:
Dustin could feel the pressure mounting. The swords were relentless, but so was he. With every parry, every dodge, his connection to the Kirin grew stronger. The tattoos on his body began to shift and writhe, their power growing in intensity with each passing second. They were no longer just protective markings, they were alive, responding to his will, wrapping around him like an impenetrable aura.

The air crackled with energy as the Kirin’s spirit infused Dustin with an unstoppable strength and speed. His senses sharpened to supernatural levels, his movements becoming even more fluid, more precise. The Kirin, the divine creature of balance, was now fully awakened within him, its spirit a force of nature itself.

With a roar of defiance, Dustin raised the Dragon Sparrow Sword high, and the Kirin tattoos glowed brighter than ever before. Lightning arced through the air, the storm that had once seemed dormant now rising with fury. The very earth beneath him trembled as the Kirin’s power surged.

"This ends now," Dustin growled.

With a single motion, he leapt into the swarm of spectral swords, his body moving faster than a flash of lightning. Each swing of his Dragon Sparrow Sword cleaved through the darkness, each strike fueled by the Kirin’s spirit. The air around him crackled with the force of a divine storm.

The Final Clash:
The last of Billy’s spectral swords came at him from every direction, but this time, Dustin was ready. With one final, earth-shattering swing, he called upon everything, the strength of the Kirin, the fury of the Dragon Sparrow Sword, and the will of a warrior determined to end this fight once and for all.

"Kirin's Fury! Warrior’s Wrath!" he shouted, his voice resonating with power.

In an instant, the Dragon Sparrow Sword blazed with lightning and fire, its blade glowing brighter than the sun. The Kirin’s power surged through it, releasing a wave of force so powerful it rippled through the very fabric of space. The spectral swords were torn asunder by the sheer force of the strike, their essence disintegrating into the wind.

The impact came faster than Billy could react.

Billy was thrown backward, his eyes wide with disbelief. The Underworld Sword, once his pride, now lay shattered at his feet, and the dark aura surrounding him began to dissipate. The very air around him seemed to recoil from the purity of Dustin’s attack.

Dustin landed lightly on his feet, his sword still crackling with energy, his Kirin tattoos fading slowly but leaving behind an aura of divine power. The battlefield fell silent once again, save for the distant rumble of the storm.

The Aftermath:
Billy staggered, his once-proud stance broken. The shadows that had swarmed him now disappeared, and he stood vulnerable before Dustin, the very embodiment of his shattered pride. The spectral swords, now gone, had been no match for the combined force of Dustin’s will and the Kirin’s Tattoo.

Billy’s expression twisted into a grimace, his lips trembling as he tried to summon more powerbut it was gone. He was left at mercy of Dustin, pleading “Spare my life, you won:”

Dustin stood tall, his breath steady, his Dragon Sparrow Sword at the ready. He had faced the Underworld Sword, the spectral blades, and the dark forces that Billy had wielded. But through it all, he had never lost his focus. He had embraced the power of the Kirin, becoming more than just a warrior, he had become the number One on Whiz List.

The battle was over. Dustin Won

Easy guys. We were all once complaining about how the tournament is dragging on and for almost a year. We should be glad its now over so Dustin can claim the dragon spiral and move on to the next quest bringing us a step closer to Natasha.

Remember the Oasis...

It ended abruptly just like this tournament. I bet the original author didn't end the tournament the way we expected. This ending was gifted to us by IGGDM Junlee (aka 'Jungal2000'). This was his creation to make the final fight more complete.
This is the only fight in this novel showcasing Dustin's exquisite swordsmanship worthy of being top on the whiz list.
Those of us who are not satisfied with The immortals ending feel free to start your own thread and translate.

Thanks IGGDM Junlee for the update. The final duel may not be much but I believe you can do better next time.

I doubt that Natasha will reappear any time soon…
Having said that, you never know - I mean, Abigail showed up out of nowhere.
Then again, the drunkard showed up for a minute too only to disappear again…
🤷🏻‍♂️
Let’s see what shape the Pantheon attack takes and who’s gonna side with Dustin and Gabrielle, and who will side with the enemy…

CHAPTER 2696: THE MASK OF TRIUMPH AND EMPTINESS

You know, there’s an old saying, “The younger wave of the Yangtze River pushes the older one forward.” It’s such a poetic way to remind us that every generation builds upon the achievements of the previous. But sometimes, the younger wave doesn’t just push forward—it absolutely surprises, leaving everyone in awe.

This is what's in his mind.

Darkbane squinted his eyes, both surprised and unsettled. Truth be told, although he knew Dustin was Bladeheart’s disciple, he had never truly believed that Dustin could defeat Billy. He had underestimated the unpredictability of fate.

The outcome was unexpected, but was it truly fortunate? Darkbane felt a strange hollowness accompanying his elation. Victory without meaning was a hollow prize, just as a bet made without insight was little more than a fool's gamble.

Even though he lost his bet, Darkbane couldn’t help but feel strangely satisfied. At least, the championship had not gone to the Thunderstrike Sword Alliance. There was still a chance for World Society, even if that chance was as fleeting as a wisp of smoke on a windy day.

But a dark seed of an idea began to sprout—a chance for World Society meant manipulating Dustin. The question wasn’t whether he could be bought, but at what cost.

Resources? Promises? None of it was enough. Thunderstrike Sword Alliance and the Mystic Arts Order were also circling like vultures, each with talons sharper than the last. They would need a different kind of weapon, a different kind of leverage.

Darkbane turned the thought over in his mind—an opportunity not defined by honor or tradition. Dustin had a weakness—his connection to Moore’s daughters, a sentiment far more fragile than strength. Maybe it was time to play the game that had no rules, no guarantees—only risks and consequences. Perhaps it was time for a beautiful mask of deception, one that could easily be discarded when it was no longer needed.

“After hiding for so long, it was inevitable that he would shatter the calm.” Evelyn grinned, her expression one of satisfaction, but with an emptiness in her eyes. She spoke as if this was the climax they had all been waiting for, as if Dustin's emergence had been a prophecy, not just chance.

Her granddaughter was still unmarried, a pawn left untouched. If Dustin could be bound to the Mystic Arts Order, it would serve as leverage, a tool, a means to an end. Though it went against tradition, tradition itself was a hollow thing if it did not serve a purpose. Rules could be rewritten, morality redefined, so long as the cost was worth it.

“Golden scales are not destined to stay in shallow waters; once the right wind and clouds arrive, the dragon emerges.” Spencer (he) sighed softly, his gaze distant. But was this truly a dragon emerging, or just another puppet in the hands of fate? Before the tournament ended, no one had expected Dustin to emerge as champion.

This dark horse had amazed them all, yet underneath amazement was the creeping dread of unpredictability—something they could not control, no matter how much they tried.

Seeing Billy admit defeat, Spencer stood up again, his voice echoing: “The tournament is over. I hereby declare that the champion of this martial arts competition is—Dustin Rhys!”

The crowd erupted into cheers, the applause drowning out the doubts that echoed in the minds of those in power.

Dustin and Billy had fought a spectacular battle—one that had shattered the arena into dust and left defensive formations broken, unrecognizable. The audience cheered for the beauty of destruction, oblivious to the costs. Even exhausted, both combatants had managed to give them an unforgettable duel, as if the breaking of their bodies and spirits was just another form of entertainment.

“Hahaha... He won! Dustin won!”

“A small bet with a big return—I'm going to get rich now!”

“Damn it! What bad luck! If I’d known, I would've bet on Dustin!”

A spectrum of emotions rippled through the crowd—joy, frustration, greed. Those who bet on Dustin basked in their fortune, while those who bet on Billy were left with nothing but regret. None of it mattered; these emotions were fleeting, as transient as the lives they celebrated or condemned.

The air remained electric, charged with emotions that would soon fade, just like the names of those who cheered them. For now, however, Dustin’s name echoed across the arena, a fleeting deity in the temple of competition.

With the tournament concluded, it was time to distribute prizes. The top three competitors were called forward, like lambs to the altar.

First, Abigail received her prize, the third-place contestant standing stoic as she was handed a relic of immeasurable value. Then came Billy, awarded a treasure equally priceless, but none of it held meaning beyond its material worth—empty accolades to validate their struggle.

As for Dustin, the champion, there was no prize for him here—no shiny trinket to display before the masses. Instead, Spencer personally invited him into the depths of Dragon Tiger Mountain.

It had already been proclaimed that the champion would receive the Heavenly Master’s secret treasure. Yet the specifics of this treasure had been kept hidden—like a promise that may turn into either salvation or curse, a mystery cloaked in uncertainty.

For Dustin, the path forward would be anything but simple. The cheers would fade, the dust would settle, and beneath the spectacle lay the emptiness of triumph—where victories bore no fruit, and treasures were veiled in shadows.

CHAPTER 2697: MEETING WITH THE HEAVENLY MASTER

Dustin had already made some guesses; the Heavenly Master secret treasure was most likely connected to the Dragon's Energy Spirals. And that, in fact, was the ultimate reason why he had decided to join the martial tournament.

After leaving the tournament grounds, Dustin followed Spencer through gate after gate, finally entering the inner hall.

"You must be tired from the battle just now. Rest for a while," said Spencer.

"I have a matter I must urgently attend to, but I shall return soon," he added. "Someone, bring some tea!"

Spencer guided Dustin to a seat and ordered refreshments before turning and leaving the room.

It was already dusk, and Dragon Tiger Mountain carried on as always, its routines undisturbed.

Since he was already here, Dustin relaxed, drinking tea and quietly waiting.

It wasn't until nightfall that Spencer finally returned. This time, however, he wasn't alone.

Following him was an old man of imposing stature. The elder had a round face, his hair completely white. He was rotund, and his kind features gave him a cheerful appearance.

Yet despite his jovial appearance, Spencer treated this old man with utmost respect.

The moment Dustin saw the elderly man, his expression stiffened, and he hurriedly rose to his feet, bowing deeply. "Dustin greets the Old Heavenly Master!"

Yes, this seemingly ordinary, rotund elder was none other than Phantom Richards—a legendary figure, ranked number one in the martial world for years.

"Haha, no need for such formality, young one. Sit down," Phantom said, smiling as he patted Dustin on the shoulder, his demeanor devoid of any airs of seniority.

Dustin nodded and sat as instructed. Though he had expected this meeting, seeing Phantom in person was an entirely different experience.

On the surface, Phantom seemed unremarkable, yet his aura was as vast and deep as the ocean—immeasurable. The higher one's cultivation, the more one could feel that oppressive force emanating from the depths of his soul. It wasn't something Phantom did intentionally; rather, it was the awe a mere ant felt when looking up at the sky.

Indeed, even with Dustin's current cultivation level, he felt like an ant before Phantom.

"You should sit too," Phantom gestured, motioning for the nervous Spencer to take a seat beside them.

"Young one, congratulations on winning the championship. In addition to the standard rewards, you may also make one request of Dragon Tiger Mountain. As long as it does not go against the code of the martial world, and if it is within our power, we will do our best to fulfill it."

Phantom squeezed his plump form into a chair, a kind smile on his face.

Hearing this, Dustin's eyes couldn't help but brighten. The worth of Dragon Tiger Mountain's support needed no explanation—to have Phantom personally fulfill a request was an opportunity that could drive countless factions mad with envy. This was far more valuable than any ordinary reward.

However, Dustin hadn't yet decided how best to use this offer. After a moment of thought, he replied, "Old Heavenly Master, I haven't quite figured out what to ask for just yet. May I keep this offer for the future?"

"Of course, that won't be a problem," Phantom chuckled. "But don't wait too long. If I happen to kick the bucket one day, I'd be powerless to fulfill my promise."

"Old Heavenly Master, you jest. Surely you will live to be a hundred," Dustin quickly replied.

"Live to be a hundred?" Phantom paused, then burst out laughing. "You are quite the amusing young fellow."

Seeing Spencer's peculiar expression beside him, Dustin suddenly realized his mistake. The Old Heavenly Master was nearing two hundred years of age—saying he would live to be a hundred was, in this context, either a blessing or a curse.

Dustin realized his blunder immediately, and the room erupted in laughter. Even the mighty Phantom couldn’t help but be amused by the sheer innocence of it all.

Thanks Junlee, Phantom is coming in to picture. Need to see where we are heading. Looks like I'm first guy to read and comment 😂.

Lol darkbane thinks he can use his daughters to control Dustin. Natasha is still a league above them not just in beauty but also in background. She is the granddaughter of Duncan, head of one of the strongest major royal family in stonia city. And she has a remarkable temperament than any other lady apart from Gabrielle.

dont know what to tell you and your confident bet, ive been caught up since when dahila slapped him and his friend died back in the kirin gang times, the story is mostly stale and has only recently begun to pick up its slack and even then its still not at the level it used to be back in its earlier days, honestly at this point i am mostly reading out of obligation to the dustin of those first one thousand chapters and see how his story ends, since it was among the earlier of these novels i picked up
Same here, initially I thought this novel is romance/love story with little action but later this become action, with little horror n romance

Who else here thinks Phantom Richards knows Dustin's real identity?

Thanks a lot immortal Junlee (aka 'Jungal2000') for the abundant resources.

I really enjoyed the fight between Dustin and Billy. However I still feel like the most of us that the author has not done justice to the spectacular fight. Here are some of the things that I liked the most and some of the things that I would have loved to see.

1. Unlike the other fights here both the toppers of whiz list were aware of their strength and a possible lagging in concentration could become fatal so they straightaway got into business. So there was no need for any build up.

2. One of the things that impressed me was that there was no enmity, just the mutual respect and admiration for each other and the genuine curiosity to know who has better cultivation and swordsmanship skills. The outcome did not really matter and that only function as a motivating factor to work hard. That is exactly what sports are supposed to do. It has to encourage one to keep on pushing their limits so that they can do it better next time.

3. It was also so good to see Darkbane finally coming to senses and now he might coax Moore's sisters to bring in Dustin at whatever cost it might be.

4. Evelyn has her own aspiration but one thing she does not realise is that Dustin and Abigail's relationship is more filial like father and daughter, master and aprentice than erotic one.

There are couple of other things that I was not happy is that Dustin was taken to tiger mountain immediately. The author could have given at least a couple more chapters explaining about other people's reaction. Probably something like

1. Kieran started to laugh so loud saying "I am not surprised and from the begining I know he has hidden his strength well and when it mattered, he delivered. Then the others like Ruby, Emerald and Ullysys asking him, how did you know? Then Kieran could have revealed to them. "Come on guys, he is the Kirin Legend, Logan Rhys, the crown prince of West Lucazia, the number one in whiz list along with Billy", who else could defeat Billy if not Logan. Then they all get the shock of their life and be thrilled that they are friends with someone in the world shaking list.

2. Gabriella felt relieved that Dustin could win and just one step closer to getting the dragon spiral vein. The author could have also mentioned that her admiration towards Dustin also increased by leaps and bounds or she could have expressed like this, "I know you could do this and for no reason that I wasted ten year of my life to save you" by saying that she could have winked as Dustin or at least given him thumps up.

Chapter 2698 The Dragon's Energy Spirals! A Blessing or a Curse?!

“Elder Heavenly Master, my apologies. I’ve spoken out of turn,” Dustin said with an awkward smile.

“Hahaha… It’s fine, it’s fine! I don’t mind such things,” Phantom laughed heartily, then gestured toward Spencer. “Spencer, bring out the reward for this young man.”

“As you wish.”

Spencer responded, then pulled out a jade box and placed it on the table next to Dustin.

“Young one, open it and take a look,” Phantom said with a knowing smile.

Dustin nodded, carefully opening the jade box with both hands.

Inside, three crystalline orbs lay shimmering.

One golden.

One crimson.

One green.

Each orb glowed faintly, and within each one, a tiny snake of matching color coiled and slithered as though alive, brimming with vitality and energy.

“The Dragon's Energy Spirals?!”

Dustin’s eyes lit up as he recognized the orbs instantly.

He had encountered one Dragon's Energy Spirals before, so he knew without a doubt what these three treasures were.

But what he hadn’t expected was that Dragon Tiger Mountain held not one, but three of these miraculous sources!

What kind of divine land is this place, anyway?!

“Well, are you satisfied with the reward?” Phantom asked with a smile.

“Elder Heavenly Master, how did you know I needed this?” Dustin asked, barely masking his astonishment.

“Master’s foresight is unparalleled,” Spencer said proudly. “No great event under the heavens escapes his gaze.”

“Elder Heavenly Master, you are truly remarkable. I am in awe!” Dustin cupped his fists and bowed deeply.

They say, ‘Seek something far and wide, only to find it without effort.’

To think that the Dragon's Energy Spirals would fall into his lap so easily—and not just one, but three at once!

With these, he now possessed four of the five sources, leaving only one to be found.

“Don’t celebrate too early,” Phantom said with a calm smile. “The Dragon's Energy Spirals determines the fate of the world. Its presence will undoubtedly attract countless forces vying to claim it. Now that it’s in your hands, it is both a blessing and a curse. You must decide carefully—will you take on this burning burden?”

“Elder, I have made a promise to someone, and I intend to honor that promise. I will take the Dragon's Energy Spirals, and I will defend it with my life,” Dustin declared solemnly.

“Well said. A true son of Dragonmarsh should have such resolve,” Phantom said with a nod, his smile approving.

“Elder Heavenly Master, you’ve given me such a great gift. Allow me to share some information in return,” Dustin suddenly added, his tone serious.

“Oh? Let’s hear it,” Phantom said, raising an eyebrow.

“The Pantheon from the Western World has dispatched experts to infiltrate Dragon Tiger Mountain. Their target seems to be the Forbidden Grounds of the mountain. Whether they seek the Dragon's Energy Spirals or something else entirely, I cannot say,” Dustin revealed.

“The Pantheon?!”

CHAPTER 2699: THE FORBIDDEN SECRETS OF DRAGON TIGER MOUNTAIN

Phantom squinted his eyes slightly, his smile unwavering.

“They’re bold, I’ll give them that—daring to lay their hands on Dragon Tiger Mountain.”

“The enemy comes prepared. We cannot afford to be careless,” Dustin replied solemnly.

“Spencer, I’m leaving this to you. Anyone who trespasses in the forbidden grounds—kill them without mercy,” Phantom declared with a chilling smile.

“Yes!”

Spencer answered firmly and left without hesitation.

Recently, there had been suspicious activities near Dragon Tiger Mountain. It was time for a thorough cleansing.

Phantom suddenly turned toward Dustin and asked, “Kid, don’t you want to know what lies hidden in the forbidden grounds of Dragon Tiger Mountain?”

“This… isn’t something I should be privy to, is it?” Dustin hesitated, unsure of Phantom’s intentions.

“It’s no world-shattering secret. I don’t mind telling you.”

Phantom took a sip of tea before speaking, his tone calm yet heavy with meaning.

“The reason Dragonmarsh has grown increasingly powerful is due to its flourishing national destiny—unstoppable and ever-prosperous. Three elements drive this destiny: Heaven’s Timing, Earth’s Advantage, and Human Unity.

  • Heaven’s Timing is a mystical force that ties to the laws of the heavens. Even I haven’t fully understood it, so we’ll leave that for another day.
  • Earth’s Advantage refers to the land, the mountains, the rivers, and the resources. At the heart of this is the Dragon Vein, a subterranean flow of power.
  • The strength of a Dragon Vein determines whether a nation thrives or falters.
  • Human Unity involves the rulers of Dragonmarsh and individuals blessed with extraordinary fortune.

“In the past, the true ruler of Dragonmarsh was Spike Lourd, the Lord of the Serpentsteel Royal Guardians. This man controlled the royal Dragon Vein but was consumed by greed, killing the loyal and plunging the court into chaos.”

“It was thanks to your master, who risked his life to challenge the system. With one decisive strike, he eradicated Spike Lourd and destroyed the Serpentsteel Royal Guardians, freeing the Dragon Vein to return to the natural order.”

“This act of great righteousness earned my eternal respect.”

Hearing this, Dustin’s gaze dimmed momentarily but soon returned to normal.

“Elder Heavenly Master, I’ve heard these stories before. But what does it have to do with the forbidden grounds of Dragon Tiger Mountain?”

Phantom’s smile deepened.

“To be honest, Dragonmarsh’s Dragon Vein doesn’t only consist of one vein.”

“What?” Dustin’s expression shifted, realization dawning on him.

“You mean Dragon Tiger Mountain has its own Dragon Vein?”

“Precisely,” Phantom said with a nod.

“That’s why I’ve remained on Dragon Tiger Mountain all these years. My duty is to guard this Dragon Vein. It is not just the lifeline of Dragon Tiger Mountain—it sustains the entire nation’s destiny.”

“No wonder… Even when the royal Dragon Vein was destroyed, Dragonmarsh remained stable. It’s all because of this hidden Dragon Vein!” Dustin exclaimed, enlightenment washing over him.

“Exactly. Through this Dragon Vein’s energy, I’ve achieved my current cultivation and prolonged my life,” Phantom admitted without reservation.

“I guard the Dragon Vein, and it grants me power in return. My strength grew rapidly, allowing me to become someone others can only look up to.”

Dustin narrowed his eyes. “Elder Heavenly Master, is there another reason you’re telling me all this?”

“Sharp as ever.” Phantom laughed and nodded approvingly.

“Human strength is finite. I’m nearing 200 years old, and my time is almost up. I can no longer protect the Dragon Vein.

Before I pass, I must find a successor. And you… are the perfect candidate!”

“Human strength is finite. I’m nearing 200 years old, and my time is almost up. I can no longer protect the Dragon Vein.
